F51 alloy has the following characteristics:
Duplex stainless steel. 22% chromium duplex (austenitic/ferritic) steel (type 2205) with medium strength to high strength and good resistance to common corrosion/stress, corrosion/cracking.
The alloy is resistant to chloride environments and sulfide stress corrosion and is approximately twice as strong as standard austenitic stainless steel. When higher mechanical strength/lighter weight is required, the alloy can be successfully used as an alternative to the 300 series austenitic stainless steel. The F51 is easy to weld using many standard arc welding equipment, but it is not recommended for oxyethylene block welding because of the possibility of carbon build-up of the weld metal.
F51 application range application areas are:
Typical applications include pumps, valves, flanges and piping systems that are widely used in the oil and gas, chemical, power and brewing industries.
