Hastelloy B alloy has the following characteristics:
1. Controlling the minimum content of iron and chromium to prevent the formation of beta-phase Ni4Mo.
2. Excellent corrosion resistance to reduction environment.
3. Excellent resistance to medium sulphuric acid and many non-oxidizing acids.
4. Good resistance to chloride reduction stress corrosion cracking (SCC).
5. Excellent corrosion resistance to various organic acids.
The metallographic structure of Hastelloy B:
Hastelloy B has a face-centered cubic lattice structure. By controlling the content of iron and chromium at the minimum value, the processing brittleness was reduced and the precipitation of Ni4Mo phase was prevented at 700-870 C.
Corrosion resistance of Hastelloy B:
Nickel-molybdenum alloy Hastelloy B has very low carbon and silicon content, which reduces the precipitation of carbon and other impurities in HAZ, so its weld seam also has sufficient corrosion resistance. Hastelloy B-2 alloy has good corrosion resistance in reducing medium, such as hydrochloric acid solution of various temperature and concentration. It also has good corrosion resistance in medium concentration sulfuric acid solution (or contains a certain amount of chloride ion). It can also be used in acetic acid and phosphoric acid environment. Alloy materials have the best corrosion resistance only in the proper metallographic state and pure crystal structure.
Hastelloy B's application areas include:
Alloy Hastelloy B is widely used in chemical, petrochemical, energy manufacturing and pollution control, especially in sulphuric acid, hydrochloric acid, phosphoric acid, acetic acid and other industries.
