The alloy has the following characteristics:

1. High resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in halide and acidic media containing H2S

2. It can effectively resist stress corrosion cracking of chloride ion in practical application.

3. Excellent corrosion resistance to all kinds of corrosion in normal oxidation and reduction environments

4. The mechanical properties are better than Cronifer 1925 LC-Alloy 904 L.

5. The metallurgical stability of the alloys with 18% nickel content in the same series is greatly improved.

Metallographic structure of Incoloy 926:

926 is a face-centered cubic lattice structure.

Corrosion resistance of Incoloy 926:
926 is an austenitic stainless steel with similar chemical composition to alloy 904L. Its nitrogen content is increased to about 0.2% and molybdenum content is about 6.5%. The increase of nitrogen and molybdenum content significantly improves the resistance to pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion in halide medium. At the same time, nickel and nitrogen not only ensure the stability of metallographic phase, but also reduce the tendency of precipitation of intergranular phase in hot working or welding process compared with alloys with low nickel and nitrogen content. Excellent local corrosion resistance and 25% nickel content make alloy 926 have outstanding corrosion resistance in chloride ion medium. Experiments in various FGD systems of limestone slurry with chloride concentration of 10 000-70 000 ppm, PH value of 5-6 and working temperature of 50-68 C show that after 1-2 years'test period, the alloy 926 has basically no pitting corrosion and crevice corrosion. 926 alloy also has good corrosion resistance in other chemical media, as well as high temperature and high concentration media, including sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, acid gas, sea water, salt and organic acid. 926 alloy is selected from Chapter 6 of the BAM catalogue of the German National Institute of Materials Research and Testing (BAM) in Berlin. In addition, only when the material is in the correct metallurgical state and under the condition of ensuring cleanliness can it have the best corrosion resistance.
